Etsy Fee Calculator
Price with your eyes open. Enter the item price and shipping you charge, and see every Etsy fee line, what you actually receive, and what is left after your costs.
Your results
Fees are calculated on price plus shipping charged, the base Etsy uses. Sales tax Etsy collects and remits on your behalf is not part of these lines.
Worked example
A $40 item with $8 shipping charged
Fee base: 40 + 8 = $48.00. Transaction: 48 × 6.5% = $3.12. Processing: 48 × 3% + $0.30 = $1.74. Listing: USD 0.20 × 1.36 = $0.27. Total fees $5.13, you receive $42.87, and after $12.00 item cost and $9.00 postage the profit is 42.87 - 12 - 9 = $21.87.
How this calculator works
Each percentage fee applies to the buyer total (price plus shipping): fee = (price + shipping charged) × rate. The listing fee is a flat USD 0.20 per listing, converted at the rate you enter, charged when the listing is created or renewed rather than at sale, but included here so the per-sale math is honest for single-quantity listings.
Etsy changes fees and adds country regulatory fees from time to time. Every rate on this page is an editable input for exactly that reason; check your Etsy payment account page for the rates currently applied to your shop.
Common questions
Does Etsy charge fees on shipping?
Yes. The transaction fee and payment processing are calculated on the total the buyer pays, including the shipping you charge. Free shipping does not avoid the fee; it moves the same amount into the item price, where the same percentages apply.
What about Offsite Ads fees?
If a sale is attributed to Etsy's Offsite Ads, an additional 12 or 15 percent advertising fee applies depending on your shop revenue. It is not in the default lines because most sales are not attributed; add it to the regulatory or transaction percentage field to model an attributed sale.
Are these the current Canadian rates?
The defaults (6.5 percent transaction, 3 percent plus $0.30 processing) are the long-standing published Canadian figures. The regulatory fee default is zero because it varies by country and over time. Etsy announces changes in its Fees and Payments policy; your dashboard is the authority.
