About Mississippi Maple
Mississippi Maple is a Canadian project with one simple goal: give homeowners exact, local numbers for the projects they are planning, in the units they actually buy.
Why we built it
Search for a concrete or paint calculator and most of what you find assumes another country. The bags are the wrong weight, the paint cans are the wrong size, and the heating advice ignores a Canadian winter. Homeowners end up converting units on a phone in a store aisle, then rounding up out of caution and overbuying, or rounding down and making a second trip.
Mississippi Maple starts from Canadian shelves and Canadian weather. Inputs are metric first, with imperial where it helps. Results come back as 30 kg bags, 3.78 L cans, cubic metres and yards, and board counts with the gap and waste assumptions shown on the page, so you can see exactly how an answer was reached and adjust it.
How we work
- Every formula is shown. Each calculator explains its math and states its assumptions, like the yield of a bag of pre-mix or the coverage of a can of paint.
- Worked examples are checked by hand. The example on every page is calculated independently before it is published.
- Your numbers stay yours. Calculations run in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere.
- Free means free. The calculators carry no sign up and no charge. A paid Pro tier is planned for people who want saved projects and exports, and it will never gate the basic math.
A note on accuracy
These tools produce planning estimates. Real projects vary with site conditions, product brands and how a material is placed. Always verify quantities before you buy, and follow the manufacturer instructions and local building codes for the work itself. See the terms for the fine print.
