Worked example

January 1, 2026 to March 1, 2026: January contributes 31 days and February 2026 contributes 28 days (2026 is not a leap year), for a total of 59 days. That is 8 weeks and 3 days, exactly 2 calendar months, and 59 x 24 = 1,416 hours. The default dates above show this example.

Frequently asked questions

Does the count include both the start and end dates?

This calculator reports the difference between the dates, the standard method: March 1 minus January 1 counts the days you must advance from the first date to reach the second. If you need an inclusive count of calendar days touched (for example, hotel nights versus days), add 1 to the total days.

How are months calculated when months have different lengths?

The calendar months figure counts whole month boundaries first, then the leftover days, so January 1 to March 1 reads exactly 2 months. The approximate months figure divides total days by 30.44, the average month length, which is handy for rough planning.
