Frequently asked questions
How big is an acre compared to a hockey rink?
An acre is 4,046.86 m2. An NHL rink is about 1,579 m2, so one acre is roughly two and a half rinks. A Canadian football field including end zones is about 0.9 acres.
Why do Canadian farms use both acres and hectares?
Land was surveyed and sold in acres for generations, and most farm listings still quote acres, while government programs and statistics use hectares. One hectare equals 2.4711 acres.
